Senior Chemical Engineer

About me

I was born in Barcelona, of Belgian father and Spanish mother. I was an inquisitive child and always fancied STEM subjects, especially Maths and Chemistry, so I found easy to choose Chemical Engineering as my next step after finishing school. I studied a Bachelor’s Degree at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the reference Engineering University in Catalonia.

After starting my career in 2004, I moved to EMMSA in 2008. EMMSA was a multinational EPC with headquarters in Barcelona and offices in several countries around the world (Mexico, Argentina, Germany, Morocco, Algeria…). There I seriously developed my Engineering career, learning a lot about Mechanical Engineering and also about the Oil and Gas industry standards.

After 5 years at EMMSA, and resisting the financial crisis, I decided that was time to get some experience abroad. The initial destination was going to be Australia, but I chose the United Kingdom instead. I started looking for jobs, and finally found a Proposals Engineer role near Bristol at Alderley. I had a few years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, but the words Produced Water Treatment were totally alien to me. At Alderley I lifted my career to a totally different level. The first couple of years were difficult: new country, new job, no friends, no family support, but my partner and I supported each other and got through it with humour and a lot of effort.

In November 2019 I proudly acquired British citizenship, which was added to the Spanish and Belgian.

After 5 years at Alderley, I moved to Jordan Manufacturing in Yate to develop a Project Engineering role managing Renishaw manufacturing contracts. Unfortunately Jordan entered administration 6 months later, and I made a move back to my previous role at Alderley. After a few months back at Alderley, and being headhunted several times, I was offered a Senior Process Engineer role at Enhydra that gave me the opportunity to develop my Chemical Engineering skills further.

In December 2020 I returned to Barcelona with my family for personal reasons.
